*** NOTE - For safety - ALWAYS disconnect the battery Earth lead before working on the starter motor!! *** Changing the 2.2 starter. It will be necessary to remove the two support braces for the intake manifold for access. There are one or more front support bolts and brackets that are removed. All three of the main mountbolts are on the back side of the engine/transmission "bell housing", the two lower ones accessible from under the vehicle ( come in behind the left front wheel) the other one is accessible after removing the center front access panel, under the radio area thru the firewall. The bolt is a little hard to get to, is pretty tight and there isn't much clearance to work with but can be done.. Leave the wiring alone till you are ready to drop the starter. Last thing is to remove the wiring. This is a good time to install a starter trigger lead booster (Solenoid off the battery to the start solenoid trigger, controlled by the old trigger wire). To install the starter, get it into position, connect the wiring, then install the bolts Be sure to get the locator sleeve (pilot bushing) installed in the lower starter mount hole and toque the three bolts before installing and torquing the front support brackets and bolts. Give yourself a lot of time, this job will test your patients and religion. Been there, done that! LarryS
